THE CAMP
The goal of the camp is to help you develop as a runner. It doesn't matter whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned veteran, we can help you. The camp programme is there to offer a structure to the week. On most days there are two daily training sessions: an easy early morning run and a quality session in the late afternoon. In between there are stretching, yoga, pilates or core fitness sessions and in the evening there are talks, presentations or group dinners.
One day is designated as a long run day and there is no second running session on that day and on another there is a 5K race instead of the early morning run and that's day's afternoon session will be more focused on recovery.
We use a number of regular routes for the early morning runs, a mix of tarmac, hard packed off-road trails or sandy beach, with all the runs starting and finishing at the hotel. All the routes, including the one designed for the long run day, have laps or options to shorten or extend the runs depending on your individual needs or requirements. There are maps showing a few of the runs at the bottom of this page. We will have staff at the front and the back for the morning runs to ensure that no one loses their way and on the long run day we have a support team in Vilamoura offering drinks and supplies so you do not have to carry anything with you.
On most mornings after breakfast you can book a one-to-one session with one of the coaches to discuss your training, fine tune your programme or seek more general advice on how to improve your running. You can also book a private session with the physio or masseur if you have any minor aches or niggles that need treating.
To give you an idea of what to expect on the camp, here is a sample programme of what happens on each day throughout the week:
